Both WIPs but quite good:

Nightingale - Hyuuga Neji goes missing nin, which is more complicated than it sounds. Luckily the Uchiha brothers are experts in professional treachery and more than willing to give him tips...whether he wants them or not. /post timeskip/ Sound Village mind f***ery/ Wow...just, wow. This gen fic is so intense up until the last update. I can't even explain how elated/violated/disturbed I felt right alongside Neji.

That Look - Anko sees something that worries her and decides to do something about it. Sweet and interesting so far.

Just a little blast from the past: I've mentioned this story before, but I still want to sing its praises. Read Still Waters Run Deep. Such an amazing fic - been reading it for months, and I still haven't tired of it. The author has me spoiled on her characterizations of Sasuke and Hinata. *fangirls Winter Weatherman, like whoa* I hope she continues it.

Metronome - Of time and the havoc it wreaks on the members of Team Gai. Herein lies the journey. Team Gai love.

Nicknames - Naruto may come to regret introducing Sai to Team Gai. Or he might not.

Cordial Correspondence - After that mess with Akatsuki, Lee sends Gaara a letter to make sure he's doing well. Gaara's less than grateful. His siblings try to 'teach' letter answering etiquette to the Kazekage, with some rather unfortunate side effects.

Leave it Alone - Part of him misses those days, back when things were simple--eating ramen faster than Naruto then throwing up afterwards.

Hot Water - “You're with the Ice Bitch and his squad,” Sasuke says distastefully. “You’ll have an even colder winter than the rest of us." Luckily, Sakura doesn’t know just what lengths Itachi is going to go to prove his younger brother wrong. ItaSaku, non-massacre.

The Trials of being Half Blind - The trials Kakashi experiences in the first few weeks of being half blind.

Two Things Sakura Did Not Do During The Invasion - She was a child of war; she could take it. On why medic-nins are vital, especially when disobeying.

Requiem - Itachi, from beginning to end. Because S-class criminals are human, too.

Faith - Hell is subjective, and this is not the worst one he has known.

10 Arrows - We both have 10 things we love, 10 things we hate, and 10 things we noticed. But can we find the one thing we both want to say?

Of Dolls and Manly Honor - Uchiha Sasuke made a promise to himself. Even if it took him forever and ever and ever, even IF it made his mommy mad, even if he died trying…he was going to get his dignity back. He had to find a way to get rid of those dolls.

Chapter 414 brought out mixed emotions in me. Team Taka has its own bonds of a sort - misfit, rejected ninja they are and formidable in their own right - but I couldn't help but be annoyed at Sasuke for recalling the Team 7 bonds while noting the sacrifices Taka has made in the fight. Maybe I feel like he's cheating on Naruto and Sakura who wanted to help him, too. Sigh. Then again, maybe this is the kick in the pants Uchiha needs to see that friendships aren't so easily discarded for the sake of an agenda. Itachi can vouch for that. Damn, I miss him. :(

Just because I want to mention it, my buddy butterbeergirl wrote a very sweet little Harry and Luna (my OTP) fic, Amends, that is total win. If there are any loonieslions out there, check this v. nice story out. ♥

Shamefully small list of recs this time around...sorry, friends. Hurricane Dolly is one reason, and the gleaning of spoilers and release for the last Twilight book Breaking Dawn is the other. Do you follow the series? Did you like it? What did I think of Breaking Dawn? Sigh....it's rubbish. I don't reckon I'll be updating the Twilight rec list anymore. I'm glad I met Jacob Black but I'm damned sorry that he got screwed over the way he did. :( Hell, even Edward wasn't getting on my nerves. But Bella....grr. Maybe I can get over my disappointment by reading some angsty KakaSaku or Sasuhina fanfiction. Yeeesss. Recs if ya got 'em.

The Thing With Feathers - Kakashi isn't really good at giving reassurance, but that's all he has left to give.

Much shoujo manga reading, watching the end of Avatar the Last Airbender and being enchanted with the Shippuuden ending, but I managed to read a few fics this week.

8 new recs:

Conversations - Takes place after the Lee's fight with Gaara in the Chunnin Prelims.

Steps - A conversation between Lee and Neji.

Natural of the Drunken Fist - “So Lee must have mistaken my sake for water and taken a drink of it.” Gai noted as the group walked away from the restaurant. “Which leads me to conclude one thing... that Lee is a natural at the Drunken Fist.” he added dramatically.

A Warm Promise - One shot about a promise that Neji made to Gai right before the Chuunin Exams.

applesauce - A name. It was all he could give to her.

Fragile - Hinata had a way to push Neji's buttons even without doing anything. A story about stolen scrolls, different forms of seduction and the dangers of the colour pink.

Golden Leaves - First, some punk stole her purse; then, her car exploded. Now Sakura finds herself willingly trapped by a soft smile and the mysterious dark eyes of her seemingly dull rescuer.

Without You - It's only in the face of loss that we realize what we have, "What am I supposed to do without you?"

No fanart recs this week because I've been obsessing over this. Fanservice ftw. Naruto = guh. Sasuke = double guh. And, lawdy...I need that song.

Night - An Heir changed. Two daughters betrayed. Hiashi sets Destiny towards the direction he tried to aviod. [ " Would you like to leave the Leaf, my daughter?"]

What I can never say - 'It’s their second kiss, the first being the one Naruto gave him behind the boys’ lockers in the changing rooms after he’d accused Sasuke of spraining his wrist. But now Naruto doesn’t have the liberty or the option of running away like he did then right after their lips broke apart.'

Tools of the trade - It's common ground that brings people together. In this case, a love of all things sharp and pointy. KankuroxTenten, oneshot.

Ingress - A thirteen year old Genma is having a problem with post traumatic stress. And the war isn't even over yet.

Konoha Piercings' - Deciding to do something different, Naruto goes to get his ear pierced. However, one look at his piercer has Naruto coming back for frequent visits.

Hanabi and Kiba - If Kiba can't have Hinata (Neji first, Kiba second for shipping) then Hanabi would please me. I started shipping them after I read Tea's Simply Unspoken.

Still Waters Run Deep - Hinata stumbles across a heavily injured Sasuke in the forest and smuggles him into her house. With her father away, anything could happen. The author's writing is elaborate and descriptive without droning on. ♥ I wish she would update. Still, v. good fic.

Which of this week's recs did I like most?
Even though nothing stuck out as really satisfying I'd have to say Kohona Piercings' especially after the new Shippuuden ending with Naruto and Sasuke. *shrugs* I wouldn't mind finding a Sasuke and Naruto fic that describes the brotherly bond Naruto cherishes so much. If anyone has or knows of one, let me know. I'd sure like to read it.

Not So Different - There's a list of surefire missions you'll get as a Konoha genin, and Team Seven wasn't the only one who were assigned Mission: Capture Torah... One year before the Rookie Nine, Team Gai tries to capture a certain wretched cat.

Acknowledge - "I see," he said dryly. "And the fact that I once tried to kill Naruto has no bearing on the matter." Naruto presses Sasuke to agree to become his bodyguard after he's become Hokage.

Understanding - He'd given her the ultimate honour. Something that only one of his elite and unique caliber could bestow: a fight replete with hitai up and Sharingan flaming crimson.

Comfortable - She is not so sure where they are, but she accepts where she wants them to be.

Master and Hound - Kakashi's nindogs, as far I can tell, have varying levels of 'human' characteristics. Really...just how do they feel about him?

Nights Like Those - "Everyone at school was convinced she was in love with that kid from La Push. 'I'm not dating him,' she protested weakly, but no one would believe her." I liked this Jacob/Bella very much and the story, y'all...it worked. I wish Edward wouldn't have come home. ;)

Whoa, I'm surprised that I didn't start any SasuHina fic this week since I've grown quite fond of them together after reading mimozablooming's excellent fic, Ikebana. Really, it's her fault for me loving this ship. ;) Seriously, read Ikebana.

Rainy Day in Konoha - A friendship piece. A chance meeting in the rain leads to the start of a very interesting friendship. [Oneshot] [Hinata] [Lee]

Iron Threads - Things happen, people change and grow, but both Lee and Hinata learn that no amount of hard work will ever change another person's heart.

Hello!

I'm trying to get back to my list updates at the end of each week like I used to. I know...this week's recs are few, but I have an excuse - my rss feeds that scour the internet for Naruto fanfiction were accidentally marked as read so I'm having to go through every feed and read summaries for stories I may want to read. I screamed a little when I realized my mistake a second after I clicked on the mark all items as read button. *facepalm* I hope at least that this journal is being found useful to some Naruto fanfiction appreciators. *peers out looking for perusers of 1uz*

On to the recs:

Hidden Self - Sasuke wants to be the only one who sees it in her.

Reality - Reality isn't all it's cracked up to be. But sometimes it's worth trying again.

His Heart's True Desire - Yamato unexpectantly ends up eating ramen with Sakura. And someone else. Someone he would've rather not have around at just that moment.

Umbrella - All she has ever wanted is for him to stand beside her.

Morning Ritual - The yukata parts even further before falling, leaving her exposed in this mirco world where there was only him, her, and the vanity mirror' Hinata and Neji lemon scented dabble.

Small update this time around.

I reread Twentythirds again (yes, I've read it several times) and still get moved to tears by Naruto and Sasuke's volatile, delicate relationship. If you haven't read it, please do so. Yaoi has nothing do with it. Beautiful.

Be Not Nobody - When Sakura comes to give the boys of Team Seven some important news, they end up angering the medic. As some interesting facts come out, the boys will be scarred for life. /AU non-massacre ItaSaku\

On Becoming Chuunin - It's an odd kind of friendship, but one sure to motivate.

Masala Dosa - Kakuzu is a slave to bargains, Hidan likes the spice of variety, and a dingy little restaurant provides a quaint intermediate between the two. Crackfic.

Bandages, Between Enemies - The circumstance’s of Sakura and Deidara, Bandages, Interns, Speech Quirks, Bastards, and Thoughts on Possible Strangulation. Huzzah for the Hospital.

Threw Genma/Tenten catagory into Various Ships. Much love for Genma. That reminds me...does it ever say anywhere in the manga that Genma is a letch? The Way of the Wind - ANBU Captain Uchiha Itachi had things well planned out, until a medic-nin with ridiculous hair went and made herself interesting. Sakura insisted she was just doing her job, but Itachi didn’t quite see it that way. Non-massacre. Sigh. This fic is going to be good....

Special update to inform that cynchick has posted the first chapter of her new fic, Vertigo. It's DeiSaku and it's hot.

I'm already working up a soundtrack in my mind - that's how badly this author's works preoccupies my thoughts.

I managed to do a lot more fic reading this week. Felt good! I especially angsted over Shippuuden 51-52 yesterday. Mean 'ol Sasuke. Don't even get me started on my reaction to Chapter 394.

Curtain call the final act - Sequel to heart strings. It should be obvious by now that they were never meant to be together. Fate was doing everything possible to tear them apart, but one thing binds them closer together than never before. As long as hope never dies, life would continue to blossom.

Life Incarcarated - he hadn't always been like that, but he had to change you see.

Touchy Feely - Among other things besides threatening, killing, and maiming, Gaara loves hugs.

Automatic - Gaara’s shield defense is automatic; he has never had to consciously think about ordering the sand where it is needed. Kankurou and Temari have always known this.

Observation - Naruto never realized, but ever since they were academy students together he had been watching him out of the corner of his eye.

Fade to Black is another one of my favorite fanart art sites where the artist features artwork of the Sand Siblings. Unfortunately, and according to the site's main page, linking to her page is not allowed. Huh? Could someone tell me why? If you've heard of the site, I'm sure you'll agree it's beautiful art. Anyway, this page doesn't seem to say anything to that effect so I'll link it.

Snapshots: Black and White - A series of snapshots throughout the years. Post-series - Sasuke, Hinata and their relationship. Eh...I'm compelled to see this one through with my newfound interest in SasuHina.

Which of this week's recs did I like most?
There were quite a few fics this week that impressed me - it was hard to choose, but I'm just going to have to pick three this time:
Karma - Too cracky not to love. It would be fantastic to see Gaara like this.
Spectator - Sigh. Naruto is a story about bonds. The thought of what kinds of bonds the Sand Siblings have would utterly fascinate me.
Silk Kimono - paws-bells is a great AU non-massacre Uchiha storyteller - and ItaSaku pairer on top of that. I had to take a cold shower after reading this one. Hmm...and to think, I don't like AU fics....
